Eleftheria Tseliou gallery is happy to present ‘Melencolia’, the solo show of Panos Koulouras. The show’s opening is on Tuesday 11 November and will last until 6 December 2014.
Τhe work of Panos Koulouras, painting and installation, is a confrontation of visual arts regarding the management of the notion of information, as it is often expressed by the contemporary culture of the media of mass communication. Following the presentations of his work ‘Ephemeral Monuments’ 2010 and ‘To be installed’ 2011, the show entitled ‘Melencolia’ – a reference to the almost homonymous copper engraving of Albrecht Durer ‘Melencolia I’ – does not focus on the melancholy deriving from the experience of depression but on the artistic, creative melancholy one can experience in times of regression and transition. The show is composed by an installation of marble fragments, on the surface of which there are engravings, memory imprints και extracts of photographic material, as well as a series of paintings, which focus on folds and are accompanied by water colors, which deal with the calendar recording of the creative process by the artist.
