Eleftheria Tseliou gallery is happy to invite you to Vasilis Zografos’ solo show ‘Missing’. The show opens on Saturday, November 14 and will be on display until the 13th of December 2015.
This new body of work consists of visual narratives focused on Greek traditional versions of attire and embellishments, as well as replicas of details from philhellene painters that depict interpretations of the notion of Greekness. The title ‘Missing’ hints at the need to determine the absence of continuity in tradition, such as the impetus to come together collaboratively and with unanimity in moments of celebration. Vasilis Zografos, loyal to his visual style, presents his themes against monochromatic backgrounds. The absence of facial features distinguishes his work from traditional portraiture and accentuates notions that arise from gestures and the subject's gait, emphasizing concepts over descriptions.
We would like to thank collector Ilias Daradimos and The Lyceum Club Of Greek Women of Thessaloniki for the access to their archives.
