Maria Efstathiou was born in Athens in 1977. She studied sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Art and Fine Art Media at the Slade School of Fine Art at UCL. Her practice includes sculptural interventions, drawing, paper works and experimental printing techniques. She has exhibited in solo and group shows in Greece, the United Kingdom, Germany and China. She lives and works in Athens.
