December 21, 2017 − January 27, 2018
Eleftheria Tseliou Gallery is happy to present 1+9. The show opens on Thursday, December 21 and will be on display until the 27th of January 2018.
Rena Papaspyrou, is not only an emblematic artist of her generation, but in her role as a professor (1993-2005) at the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA), she wrote her own history, a history of renewal, free of dogmas and any kind of stiffness, open minded and creative. Nine of her students decided to put on an exhibition asking her to participate in it so that to show apart from their love and their respect, how open her studio had been to new ideas and to creative thinking. It is no coincidence that the work of the nine then students, now known artists, has no other common denominator but freedom and constant reflection.
Photography, sculpture, painting, installations coexist in this exhibition that pays tribute to Rena Papaspyrou, while showing us how a great teacher can shape her students with her personality in a rather invisible way.
Participating artists: Rena Papaspyrou, Antonakis, Maria Efstathiou, Dionisis Kavallieratos, Elias Kafouros, Ilias Koen, Margarita Myrogianni, Dora Economou, Aliki Panagiotopoulou, Andreas Ragnar Kassapis
